Brazil has the word’s largest cattle herd for slaughter and recently a Brazilian company has become the biggest refrigerator in the world. Several vertical applications were developed with the use of RFID, motivated by the need to ensure traceability of meat, starting with livestock in the pasture, to the slaughter house through to the grocer/retailer. By using RFID systems, meat can be automatically identified in every stage of the meat making process including during refrigeration and transport. This is another area where RFID is superior to any other technology available due to its environmental toughness.
