Access Control: CASE Sigschindler

Biometric system used in access control in big living complex

Sigschindler installed in the Barra Tower building a biometric system with VIRDI equipment

Sigschindler is a tech company focused on electronic security area. It only uses first line equipment and priorizes call excellence, establishing a partnership relation with the clients. It acts on Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. ACURA Global's partner, it used VIRDI biometric equipment to install a widely accepted system in the environment.

About the Solution

The Client: The Barra Tower building, located in Rio de Janeiro, uses a technologic solution which became a trend in many areas of control and traceability: the biometric access. Through the use of biometric terminals installed in reception turnstiles, the access became more confortable and safer at the same time. The key to this type of solution is speed. In moments of high traffic the access must be fast.

Proposed Challenge: Installation of a safe and functional access control platform in commercial buildings.

Equipment: The used terminals are the AC-2100, manufactired by VIRDI, and distributed in Brazil by ACURA Global. VIRDI has been working internationally with biometrics for years, and has a fake fingerprint recognition system, which avoid the use of silicon or non-organic models to interact with the reader. ACURA Global works mainly with RFID, but started a joint venture with VIRDI, and currently distributes and develops technologies of this type through Brazil and Latin America.

Solution: Usage of biometric terminals integrated to the building access turnstiles, in an efficient, confortable and even safer way than just RFID cards.

Features / Practical improvements: This technology, introduced in the turnstile body presented an exceptional result for anyone who interacted with it. This solution has correctly adequated to the installed environment, showing that biometry can be a practical way of controlling access without need big investments.

Gains / Benefits: Innovative design, simple installation, fingerprint checking in the turnstile itself.

Testimonies: According to Aloisio Santana, building manager, "This technology, aside from the pretty design, features quick information exchange", confirming his satisfaction with the product and Sigschindler's service, which was the company responsible for the system conception.

According to Sigis Schindler, SIG director, "Aside from the great results, aesthetic, speed, security and trustability-wise, the maintenance is fast and low cost".
