About the Solution

Proposed challenge: Addressing of products was done through barcode labels, the ERP generated the target address in the storage unit and the worker took it to the target and stored it. This process presented many flaws as there was no checking if the worker stored the product in the correct address, and for that there were around 10 to 20% error rate in product addressing. In the moment of billing this meant delays and increased usage of manual work to localize misaddressed products.

Equipment: AT-870 data collector and UHF ShortDipole tags.

Features / Practical improvements: In the moment of addressing and wrapping each pallet receives an RFID tag which is written with lot and sublot information which is sent to the TOTVS' ERP. The addressing in storage has since then been done with the AT-870 collector which guarantees the correct maintenance of pallet storage. The TOTVS' ERP was integrated to compare the used addresses with the oness indicated for the products printing a checking report with possible errors to be corrected. In the moment of expedition the ERP generates a pick list of tags to be taken and sends this list to the middleware of our Expedition Docks Automation System which controls the portal of the selected dock for the expedition invoice.

Gains / Benefits: The addressing errors of products decreased to less than 1%, the trust level in the ERP increased significantly and the organization and cargo expedition time decreased from 30 to 40%.
